Cho ‘Maru’ Sung Choo is a Terran player for the Jin Air Green Wings. He is well known for being the youngest player to compete in GSL for StarCraft II, winning his first televised game at the age of 13.

Maru’s career so far has been mainly contained within the borders of South Korea, with only a poor placing at IPL4 in Las Vegas to mark his foreign tournament experience.

Maru was able to qualify for WCS Korea 2013 Season 2 Premier League, hosted by OGN, through the Challenger League Group Stage. He went on to beat former Semi-Finalists sOs and Symbol on his run to his own Semi-Final debut. Once there he pulled a series of major upsets, defeating INnoVation and later Rain to take the WCS Korea Season 2 Premier League First Place and an OSL title. Maru became the first eSF OSL champion, and the youngest Royal Roader in OSL history.

Maru entered the WCS Global Finals at BlizzCon 2013 seeded 7th, and faced MC in the first round. He defeated the Protoss powerhouse 3-1, then went on to defeat Duckdeok in the second round with a score of 3-2. Maru’s progress towards the championship was halted by Jaedong, whom many fans believed would be fulfilling his destiny, in a 1-3 loss.

Maru entered new season of Code S 2014 being one of three remaining Terran players, after jjakji moved to WCS Europe. In December 2014, Maru qualified for the newly introduced StarCraft II StarLeague. Only a few days later, he attended the GSL Season 1 Qualifier, where he got byes for the first two rounds, before dropping to the lower bracket due to a loss to TY. In the bottom bracket however, he defeated both opponents eventually to move into GSL Code S. He was then seeded to play the international seed Jim in the SSL Challenge series, whom he beat 3-1 in a rather quick series, to move through to the Main Event. Only a week after moving into Ro16, he was playing at the IEM Taipei where he was regarded as one of the favorites to win the entire tournament, only losing to Life who had been given top priority, due to recent results.
